Studio

Like loads of people I have a home studio where I write songs, record them, jam with mates and generally enjoy a man cave/den filled with toys.  Until recently it was based around the Akai DPS 16 hard disk recorder but after many happy years together I weakened at Christmas and bought a Mac Mini and installed Reaper on it.  I have to say all my fears and prejudices about computer recording have proved to be false - it's a doddle, with great results.

My main recording gear is:

Microphones - Neumann TLM 103, Audio Technica 4033, Shure SM 57 and 58, Oktava O12, TBone RM700 ribbon mic, Audix D5 kick drum mic, various other cheap oddities for special "lo fi" effects

Outboard - TL audio Ivory 5051 channel strip, RNP stereo preamp and RNC stereo compressor! Golden Age Pre 73 "Neve clone" preamp
